Lately it seems that people are starting to realize that if they want to get better at a sport they enjoy playing it is helpful to take actual breaks from playing it and doing other activities that will develop assets that will improve their play when they start up again. The break can also help the body heal up some overuse injuries that can occur during a competitive season. Here is where a good off-season training program fits in. Not just a symbolic name, the Off-Season is a time when an athlete can be very strategic in shoring up weaknesses and methodically build up those assets that will allow him or her to come into the next season bigger, faster, and stronger! How does an athlete make the best use of this time?
The ideal off-season program should focus on 3 Foundational Blocks: Build, Move, and Fuel. These Foundation Blocks are described in our Off-Season Athlete training guide.
